Upcoming Fundraiser

The Kiwanis Club of La Conner is getting ready for its annual “Chowder by the Channel” chowder cook off.  Every year there is competition among the local restaurants for the title of Best Chowder.  This a fun event that brings out the chowder tasters in force.  We have 12 – 15 restaurants competing for the title.

If you are interested in participating contact a us for an application.  We will be out talking to restaurants in the next couple of weeks and would love to include you.

There is also a silent auction during the Chowder by the Channel. Donations of items for the auction are always welcome.

Kiwanis receive money

The Kiwanis Club of La Conner received a check at their May 17 meeting from the Mount Vernon Kiwanis Noon Club.  The check for $3,975. was for the many shifts of work La Conner did for the Annual Salmon BBQ.  The BBQ is held in April each year in junction with the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival and the money will help fund our student scholarships.  Diane Fox from the Noon Club was excited to hand the check to Jack Fankhauser (far right), Vice President of the club.  Two members of the Noon Club came along to assist Diane.salmon check
